AGREEMENT ON POLICE SERVICES
- The agreement is intended to maintain a framework for effective cooperation between the parties with a view to ensuring order, peace and public security within the Kahnawake territory.
- Compared to the previous agreement which was on a tripartite basis (Kahnawake, Québec, Canada), the parties agreed on the conclusion of two bipartite agreements (Kahnawake-Québec) and (Kahnawake-Canada) linked by a tripartite liaison committee.
- The sharing of the contribution between Québec and Canada is still the same, which is 48% for Québec and 52% for Canada.
- Regarding ethics, the Ethic commissioner will establish a system of two conciliators, one native and one non-native to reinforce the effectivity of the conciliation. The commissaire à la déontologie policière will enter into a written protocol with the PAB (Peacekeapers Administration Board) about the treatment of complains from the public.
